VOTED "BEST IRISH BAND" BY THE IRISH MUSIC INDUSTRY IN 2008.
Aslan
have been together for 28 years and are still going strong. With hits
such as "This Is" and "Crazy World", they have achieved
much over their years together including double platinum sales of their
"best of" compilation, 1998's "Shame about Lucy Moonhead."
They
followed this with a 5 night run at Dublin's Vicar Street where they recorded
the live album and DVD "Made in Dublin." Both shot to no. 1 in
their 1st week of release. The album turned platinum within three weeks
and remained in the top ten for eight weeks.
Their
2001 album "Waiting for the Madness to End" hit platinum after only
four weeks.
In
October 2005, the band released a 48 track CD, simply called the Platinum
Collection. The album chronicles the singles, b-sides and rarities of
their long career.
The
Platinum Collection went into the charts at no. 3 and after a few weeks lived
up to its name by achieving triple platinum sales. The same year also saw
a successful sold out show in The Point Theatre in Dublin, marking the platinum
collections release.
In 2009
Aslan released "Uncase'd." the album sees the band take on
songs by artists they have admired down the years, and also based on
suggestions by Aslan fans through the band's website. The album features
Aslan taking on songs by artists including a heartfelt and emotional version of
Gilbert O'Sullivan's 'nothing 'Rhymed', a soon to be live classic 'Maggie May',
as well as John Lennon's 'Jealous Guy'.
This is
a band with serious credentials and for lovers of rock melodies, Christy
Dignam, lead singer, will have you spellbound with his style of
entertaining. Equally as comfortable playing to a few hundred loyal fans
in a country bar as they are selling out the Point Theatre, the hardest working
Irish Band in show business never forget the love and support of their fans,
touring constantly to perform their now legendary live sets.
Tickets
now on sale at The Canberra Irish Club.
