The Irish Club is proud to have hosted Irish Gaelic language
classes for many years. This year's classes are on Tuesday evenings
from 6.30pm and Saturday mornings at 11.30am. Or just drop
in to the new informal Irish Conversation Group from 4-5pm on Saturday
Our classes cater for both beginners and more advanced
students, but you are welcome to just sit-in and listen. Experienced
Irish speakers and assistants lead each class. Modern
text books, CD's and DVDs are sourced from Dublin and
are available for students at discounted prices.
Classes are FREE, but you must be a member of the Irish Club
and the Canberra Irish Language Association.(CILA). Students
often attend residential weekend schools in Sydney( See below) and
Melbourne and, in some cases, intensive courses in Ireland.

Scoil Gheimhridh Sydney 2019
Dates: 7 - 10 June 2019. Venue: Chevalier Resource Centre, 1 Roma
The Scoil Gheimhridh Sydney 2019 (the Sydney Winter School 2019 )is a
long weekend of Irish language and craic. The key activity is
Irish language classes. Other Irish activities provide a break in a
convivial environment. These include the official opening, table
quiz, guest speaker, concert and classes in poetry, singing, tin
whistle, yoga or dance. Informal sessions continue into the wee small
hours. Come and join the fun.
The school is open to adults from across Australia:
- complete newcomers to the Irish language
- those who want to improve their Irish
. those who learnt it at school
- fluent people who want to meet to converse in Irish
and to help others learn.
There are classes at five levels to suit the Irish language
skills of the participants.
Scoil Gheimhridh commences on the evening of Friday 7 June.
