Ireland Cup Golf Day - RCGC - 24th March 2025
2025 Ireland Cup - Information and
Schedule
DRESS CODE - Please read the dress code, it's
important eg. no denim or cargo or draw-string trousers. NO RUNNERS,
soft spikes only.
Shirts are to be tucked in at all times, but ESPECIALLY AROUND the
CLUBHOUSE
The website link is:
https://www.royalcanberra.com.au/cms/golf/dress-code/
All players should carry a sand bucket
(complete with sand) to repair divots you
might make.
Shotgun Start - Where all groups have separate
nominated first hole to commence play; this makes for a much quicker
day. Sometimes there may be two groups on some par 5 holes. In
this case the second group must wait 10 minutes before hitting off to
allow the first group to get away safely. NEVER
hit-off while the group in front is within reach.
Stableford ETIQUETTE: Like Two-Up, a quick game is a good game.
When you can no longer score points on a hole, pick up; if you want to
try a putt on the green feel free, but pick-up then accompany your team
mates to the green; don't get in front of them.
StablefordSCORING
- Two or more strokes over par: 0 points.
- One stroke over: 1 point.
- Par: 2 points.
- One stroke under: 3 points.
- Two strokes under: 4 points.
- Three strokes under: 5 points.
- Four strokes under: 6 points.
A handicap of 22 means you get 1 shot/stroke off your tally for all holes + an additional 1 shot (i.e. a total of 2 additional shots) on the 4 hardest ranked holes on the course (1 thru 4 under the Index column on card) 18 + 4 = 22.
E.g. RCGC - Hole 14 is a par 4 & is rated the 4th
hardest hole on that course, therefore, you get seven (7) shots/strokes
to score points prior to picking-up.
Where your net score on a hole (strokes less handicap) is more than 2
strokes over par for the hole (par + handicap on the hole) you
should pick up your ball.
LUNCH - Please let me know if you, or a team
mate, will NOT be lunching with us back at the Irish
Club in Weston.
If NOT returning to the
Irish Club, please give your completed cards
tosomeonewho is so they can
give them to me.
