"Did you know that Ireland is the birthplace of Halloween? It originated over 2,000 years ago in the Celtic festival of Samhain which marked the end of the harvest and was celebrated on 1 November, the first day of the Celtic "New Year". It was believed by the ancient Celts that, on the last night of the year 31 October or "All Hallow's Eve, the veil between this world and the next is thin allowing spirits to pass between the worlds...."
